Specioza Avako

SPECIOZA AVAKO is the Legal Manager. She is an advocate of the High Court of Uganda and has an impeccable record of legal practice, research and advisory services. She obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from Makerere University Kampala, a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Center, and a Master of Laws from the University of Dar es Salaam. She has vast experience in human rights, contract law, employment law, conveyancing law, corporate law and criminal law.  She also has vast experience in public interest litigation and human rights. She worked with the Center for Health, Human Rights and Development where she litigated, advised and conducted legal research on human rights cases; including public Interest Litigation (PIL) cases. She worked with the Centre for Capital Punishment studies Uganda (CCPS) a non-profit organization formed to extend justice to the underserved inmates of Luzira maximum prison on death row for three years. Specioza is also passionate about research and has worked as a researcher with several organizations including the United Nations –International Institute for Global Health (UN-IIGH). She was a legal expert with the World Health Organization (WHO) to finalize a training manual on tobacco control for the African region in Seychelles, Victoria.  She has great exposure with law firm practice and court room decorum, which experience she obtained from MMAKS Advocates, and Namanya, Kafureeka & Co. Advocates.
